A job portal has been opened in Germany for refugee artists, filmmakers and media workers

A job portal has been opened in Germany for refugee artists, filmmakers and media workers

United Service Employees Union of Germany (Ver.di) has found a job portal for Media and Culture-art sector employees who have been forced to emigrate from their home countries.

Culture, film and media business portal can be accessed through https://new-start .media  German English, Ukrainian or Russian-language portals already have more than 45 thousand job positions.

Christoph Schmitz, a member of the federal board of directors of the Ver.di, said that they launched this work to send a strong signal of solidarity to all war refugees who, due to the Ukrainian war, are currently unable to work as cultural-art, film, media workers or journalists in their own countries. “Our colleagues who fled to us are not alone. We want them to become the future in theaters, orchestras, film productions, radio stations and media companies” said Christoph Schmitz.

The job portal offers practical solidarity and brings together job offers for employees of culture, film and media in the German job market. There are about 50 thousand vacancies in Germany in the relevant sectors from the very beginning, and after the portal opens, the network members will continue to add more vacancies. Some positions will be created specifically for refugees.

As part of the further development of the business portal, additional functions such as community pages and the offer of basic language courses are also aimed to be activated soon.
