Although he was acquitted after he was dismissed from his post with KHK, he could not receive cancer treatment abroad. As he was not given a long-term passport, Prof. Dr. Haluk Savaş passed away. Assoc. His wife, Dr. Esen Savaş announced the death through a message “I lost my kindhearted husband.”
Professor Dr. Haluk Savaş was expelled with KHK in 2016 after July 15, while he was a lecturer at Gaziantep University. Later he was taken to prison and was diagnosed with cancer there. Haluk Savaş, had an operation and later requested to be treated abroad, but he was not allowed to leave the country. Campaigns were launched in the name of the him ,followed the public reaction. Upon this, Savaş was allowed to go abroad.
Professor Dr. Haluk Savaş was one of the symbol names of the struggle of KHK victims.
Savaş also served as the Editor-in-Chief of KHK TV, which spreads news about the grievances of KHK victims.

Assoc. Dr. Esen Savaş announced the death of his husband on his social media account. In the message of Esen Savaş, “If my hand touches someone, I’m cold.” Do not go to waste, my last warmth, “I lived with the mentality, trying to do good for everyone, I lost my angel-hearted husband.”
