Journalist Ibrahim Haskologlu, who was investigated for “illegally seizing personal information” after sharing identity cards of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and MIT Director Hakan Fidan, was arrested.
The Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation against Haskologlu for “unlawfully obtaining personal information”. Ibrahim Haskoloğlu, who was given a detention order as part of the investigation, was detained at his home in Üsküdar. Journalist Haskoloğlu was brought to the Istanbul Police Department Campus on Vatan Street and arrested by the court where he was taken to the court after the process in the police department.
“My client Haskologlu has been arrested unlawfully for Illegally Seizing and Disseminating Personal Data due to a news story he made,” said his lawyer, who made a statement on his social media account after Ibrahim Haskologlu’s arrest.
Ibrahim Haskologlu said in a tweet on April 12, “About 2 months ago, a hacker group reached out to me while I was livestream. They said that data was stolen from e-Devlet and state-owned web sites. They also stated that they were still leaking data. They shared the information of some state officials with me.” He shared the pictures of the identity cards belonging to Erdoğan and Fidan by mentioning that new identity cards are included the leak as well.
WHO IS IBRAHIM HASKOLOGLU?
Ibrahim Haskologlu was born in Malatya in 1996. Haskologlu, who graduated from Bahçeşehir University, Department of Radio, Cinema and Television, worked on interviews in many institutions during his university education.
Ibrahim Haskologlu, who hosted many politicians, journalists and well-known figures on his YouTube channel, conducted interviews with these people.
Haskologlu also drew attention to an interview with Jonh Bolton, who was former US President Donald Trump’s National Security Adviser.
