The IJA Academy organized a training program for young journalists. Participants from the United States, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany had the opportunity to benefit from the experience and insights of veteran journalists.
During the training held between October 13 and 16, journalist Fatih Akalan answered questions about digital media trends, next-generation content creation, and social media algorithms.
Renowned TV presenter Abdullah Abdulkadiroğlu shared his experiences on language use, on-screen presence, and effective communication techniques.
Economic journalist Turhan Bozkurt gave a presentation on economic reporting and news production for social media.
Participants also gained hands-on experience in a professional studio setting. Under the guidance of director Engin Koç and technical director Mehmet Or, young journalists practiced in front of the camera.
Investigative journalist Levent Kenez focused on methods of information gathering and the stages of content creation, offering analyses based on current news topics.
Abdullah Bozkurt, Director of Nordic Monitor, provided insights into international reporting and producing news in foreign languages. He also shared experiences from his time as a White House correspondent, highlighting the nuances of global journalism.
Cevheri Güven was also among the trainers. In his detailed session on storytelling in journalism, he discussed effective narrative techniques, source finding, and fact-checking.
Concluding with a visit to Frankfurt, the program made a significant contribution to the professional growth of the young journalists.
