Journalism Inspite of Eveything: the fourth Issue of the Journalist Post is on the air in 3 languages

Although exile means being taken away from the place of life as a word, it actually means taking a person out of life. Forced exiles take place in every period and are caused by dictators in general affect journalists the most.

The fourth issue of the Journalist Post, which contains stories of journalists forced to live a life of exile in different countries of the world, was published on May 3, World Press Freedom day with the cover of “Journalism Inspite of Everything”. Interviews with 5 journalists who left Afghanistan, Mexico, Egypt, Venezuela and Turkey and continued their profession despite all the difficulties of exile life is in the new issue of the Journalist Post.

JOURNALISM INSPITE OF EVERYTHING

According to the data of the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), as a result of the Taliban’s re-control of Afghanistan in the last quarter of last year, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine at the beginning of this year, journalists were targeted in Mexico and Haiti, the number of people who lost their lives in the first 3 months of the year was 15.

The hybrid war is underway, which plays an important role in the disinformation campaigns of the pro-Russian media. In Mexico, known as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists, journalists are struggling with the threat of organized criminal organizations and the aggressive and polarizing rhetoric of the President. In Haiti, journalists are again targeted by gangs. Journalists are still in prison in countries such as Turkey and Belarus.

The rankings of the countries in the published press freedom index change every year. Unfortunately, governments do not have any special efforts to get to the top of the index in a positive sense. It is during such a period that the importance of the Journalist Post comes to light. Many journalists from different countries of the world come together on World Press Freedom day and continue Dec advocacy of freedom of expression and the press through writing.

The Journalist Post, the world’s first and only multilingual magazine defending freedom of the press and expression, demands the unconditional release of our colleagues in different geographies and the repeal of laws criminalizing freedom of thought.
