German police raid Sabah for targeting exiled journalists
German police searched the homes of İsmail Erel and Cemil Albay and the European office of Sabah newspaper in Frankfurt. Computers and digital materials were also seized in the morning operation.

 

 

Sabah newspaper had been targeting exiled journalists such as Cevheri Güven, Erk Acarer and Can Dündar by giving their addresses. It is learned that the German police carried out a raid on ‘hate crime’. The detainees were released in the following hours.

AMBASSADOR SUMMONED TO FOREIGN OFFICE

Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun accused Germany of “trying to silence journalists and suppressing press freedom”. AKP spokesperson Ömer Çelik also called on Germany to “respect press freedom”. Germany’s ambassador to Ankara was summoned to the Foreign Ministry.
