Deutsche Welle had started to use the domain names ‘dwturkce.com’ and ‘inspiredminds.de’ as alternatives after being blocked in Turkey on July 1, 2022.
RTÜK said in a written statement last week that it was decided by a majority of votes that Deutsche Welle should also apply for a license for the alternative addresses it started to use as an alternative, and that it was given 72 hours, an access ban would be requested from the court for the alternative addresses.
DW, Germany’s 32-language international broadcaster, did not apply for a license on the grounds that the license conditions were incompatible with the laws in Germany and could lead to censorship.
In this context, the internet addresses that DW started to use as an alternative after being blocked was also blocked once again upon the request of RTÜK and the decision of Ankara 9th Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
