Denied Access to the Independent- Turkish once again

The news site Independent Turkish, which has been closed twice until today, has been blocked for the third time with the decision of BTK on May 3, World Press Freedom Day.

The third domain name of Independent Turkish, which was previously blocked twice, was also banned by the Information Technologies Authority (BTK).

This past April, Independent Turkish, which completed its first year of broadcasting in Turkey, Information Technology had brought the ban on access by the Board.

Nevzat Çiçek, Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, reminded that with the administrative decision taken by BTK on April 19, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates put an obstacle to accessing certain news sites. Çiçek argued that the decision on Independent Turkish was an attitude against Saudi Arabia’s Anatolian Agency and the access barrier to TRT Arabic.

It was noteworthy that the third access ban decision on the news site was implemented on May 3, World Press Freedom Day.
