The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) issued an important violation decision on imprisoned journalist Mehmet Baransu.
In its decision, the ECHR examined two applications of Mehmet Baransu and found that Baransu’s long detention did not contain sufficient grounds. The Court ruled on the violation of Article 5/3 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and decided to pay a total of 9,800 Euros in compensation, 7,800 Euros for non-pecuniary damages and 2,000 Euros for pecuniary damages.
It was learned that the decision was final because it came from the Committee instead of the Chamber.
