The AKP regime, which has been trampling the law for years to maintain its lawless regime, knows no bounds in its cruelty. Journalist Fehmi Koru, former Rector of Çanakkale University Dr. wrote that on the day when the former Rector of Çanakkale University Prof. Dr. Sedat Laçiner was to be released, he received a disciplinary penalty for a matter unrelated to him and his release was prevented.
Journalism origined academic Prof. Dr. Sedat Laçine Dr. has been detained in Çanakkale E-Type Closed Prison since July 20, 2016. The academic Laçiner, who recently completed his sentence, encountered a new lawlessness while preparing to be released. It was learned that Laçiner, who received disciplinary punishment for an unrelated matter, will remain in prison for another 4 months.
Fehmi Koru, who moved the subject to his column, said; ‘The only thing I know is that this last four-month punishment is likely to be much heavier for both him and his relatives than the years he has served so far. Although I don’t know if it will be useful, I would like to announce that I expect the relevant institution to lift this penalty.’ expressed he.
Fehmi Koru wrote the following:
I have generally avoided personally receiving the rewards that have been bestowed on me in my life. Except for the awards determined by the votes given by the students of the two higher education institutions.
One of those two higher education institutions was Çanakkale University.
I went as far as Çanakkale and accepted the award with honor.
…
Rector Prof. Sedat Laöiner started his working life as a journalist and made a well-deserved name for himself when he was a reporter for Milliyet newspaper. He disappeared sometime and after a few years he reappeared with the ‘Dr.’ title and the identity of an academic.
He had completed his doctorate in international relations and political science at an important university in England.
When we went to the university on the occasion of the award ceremony, we were surprised to see the parcels that appeared in front of us as soon as we entered the door. Not long after its establishment, he launched a book donation campaign that attracted attention from all over the country -meanwhile, by publishing houses- in order to close the gap of having a rich library, which it deems necessary to raise Çanakkale University to the level of the well known universities.
As the participants who were there for the award ceremony, we were impressed.
Prof. Laçiner has been in prison for a long time which is difficult for those who know him from his journalistic days, his works, and the TV debates he has appeared in, as well as the scientific community to understand.
As a result of the FETO claim that does not suit him at all…
Because of the connection between him and coup was unsuited for Prof. Laçiner ,
The claim went to trial, he was tried, convicted, stayed in prison for the time he was supposed to serve, and was expected to be released recently.
According to what I have learned, just on the day he was to be released, he was subjected to disciplinary action for a reason that he did not cause…
He’s going to serve for another four months…
While I regret that a teacher with the title of professor, whose views can be consulted on the international problems facing the country, is in prison, it seems to me completely pointless to leave him behind closed doors for another four months when he will regain his freedom.
When I think about his relatives, his children, the elderly members of his family, my sadness is exponential.
I don’t know how disciplinary penalties are given nor how to remove them. All I know is that this four months of punishment is likely to be much heavier for both him and his relatives than the years he has served so far.
Although I don’t know if it will be useful, I would like to announce that I expect the relevant institution to lift this penalty.
