It was revealed that the reasons for the announcement and advertisement cutting penalty given by the Press Advertiser Institution to Evrensel Newspaper were that the readers’ purchasing multiple newspapers from the dealers and taking the newspapers to prison. In addition, Evrensel newspaper’s objection to the penalty was rejected. According to the news in Evrensel Newspaper, the first official announcement and advertisement cutting penalty was given to the newspaper on September 18, 2019. Although the decision was appealed on 2 October to the newspaper, the objection rejection came on 10 October.

In addition, the Press Ad Agency decisions were sent to the newspaper by PTT late. On 14 October, Evrensel Newspaper asked for “re-inspection” to re-evaluate this process. The audit fee of the re-audit decision made on November 4 was also paid by Evrensel Newspaper. On 19 December, a petition was given to respond to the newspaper due to the lack of re-inspection. On January 14, 2020, the report, which was full of scandalous information about mass purchases, was delivered to the newspaper.

The Press Announcement Authority claimed that our newspaper could not fulfill the minimum actual sales condition by considering the fact that it was a crime for the readers to buy the newspaper in bulk. BİK, which made individual reviews at the dealers, saw the fact that readers bought multiple newspapers as a reason for punishment. According to the news given in Evrensel, BIK went to individual dealers in Adana, Ankara, Diyarbakır, Istanbul, Izmir and Kocaeli on November 28, 2019. They stated that the fact that they were made “constituted a violation of the provision” and that the readers determined that they “bought more than one newspaper”.

The reasons for one person in Diyarbakır to buy 5 newspapers from the dealership and take them to prison, one person in Izmir, 8 newspapers and another person buy 3 newspapers were included in the report of BIK. The lawyer of Evrensel Newspaper stated: “It takes the newspaper in Diyarbakır and takes it to prison”. Are you following people who took the newspaper? How do you know he was taken to prison? Are you getting into the physical tracking process? We understand it from this report. We are trying to be punished through the newspaper reader. We will, of course, take legal action regarding these. ”
