In Demirören Group’s Hürriyet Newspaper, a lot of employees were laid off.

According to some statements, the number of layoffs is not yet clear, but it is stated that there are about 40 people.

It is stated that Vahap Munyar, the editor-in-chief, wrote his resignation due to mass layoffs without his knowledge, but was unable to present it to the management because the management secretary did not come to work today..

Layoffs’ were found out from local municipalities

It is stated that the layoffs are done without even informing the service chiefs and human resources. One of the fired press workers said soL in this group that he saw such a method of dismissal for the first time.

When some journalists called their relatives and asked if there was any notification from the local municipality, they learned of the notice sent by the newspaper. Some journalists found that they were dismissed when they went to work they could not turn on their computers or could not access their e-mails.

One of them was Serkan Ocak. Ocak wrote in his social media account “I had to live this in my journalism life; I learned that I was fired from Hürriyet when my e-mail account denied access. In summary, I am fired, my people, do not forget us”

Gazetecilik hayatımda bunu da yaşamak varmış, mail hesabım kapatılınca Hürriyet'ten kovulduğumu öğrendim.
Özetle, kovuldum ey halkım unutma bizi…
